Pirin (Blagoevgrad) achieved his third victory since the beginning of the season in the First League, after overcoming with 2:1 Tsarsko Selo in a match of the 13th round of the championship. With their success, Warren Feeney's team came together 11 points and climbed to 11th place in the standings before playing all the matches of the round.
Pirin started the match powerfully and by the 26th minute took the lead 2:0 with hits by Preslav Yordanov (15′) and Petar Zanev (26′). Furthermore “eaglets” they hit the beam twice – after strikes by Yordanov in the 3rd minute and by Karachanakov in the 19th minute. At the end of the half Milcho Angelov returned a goal for the guests, but it proved insufficient for them.
In the 3rd minute came the first serious danger in front of one of the two doors. Brahimi then centered on the left, and Preslav Yordanov caught the ball, which deviated into the crossbeam.
In the 8th minute Pirin organized a dangerous counterattack, but Karachanakov was in vain and failed to pass to Preslav Yordanov. In the 12th minute, Stevanovic tried a long-range shot, but without success.
In the 15th minute Pirin opened the score. Manolev took the ball from Hristo Popadiin in the middle of the field and immediately passed to Kostov on the right. He in turn found Preslav Yordanov with a pass on the ground and the central striker with a nice shot with an internal rebate sent the ball into the far corner for 1:0. This was the third goal for the striker in the First League this season. 4 minutes later “eaglets” received the right to take a direct free kick. In the 26th minute the result happened 2:0. After a corner by Karachanakov, there was a commotion in the penalty area of Tsarsko Selo, but Bandalowski managed to clear. However, the ball returned to Karachanakov, who made a new centering and found the uncovered Zanev. The defender bent down and headed the ball at close range into the visitors' door, to open his goal account during the season.
5 minutes before the end of the first half the guests managed to return to the match. Stanislav Kostov took in front of his own penalty area, but he made a mistake and allowed Kavdanski to take it away from him. The captain of Tsarsko Selo tried a jester, but Nick Hengelman saved. However, the goalkeeper of Pirin could not catch the ball and dropped it, which allowed Milcho Angelov to shoot and score in the empty net – 2:1.
The second half began with pressure on “the kings”, who were trying to equalize the score. In the 50th minute Lucas Diaz centered well and found Milcho Angelov, but the attacker failed to deliver an accurate header.
3 minutes later came the first opportunity for Pirin in the second half. Karachanakov centered from a foul and found Zanev, but the defender failed to direct the ball well with his right foot and took it out.
In the 60th minute Bandalovski intercepted a good cross from a corner with his head, but his blow went over the crossbar.
A little later Manolev tried a volley from “eaglets”, but Georgiev saved.
In the 76th minute Pirin failed to decide everything in the match. Brahimi made a nice break from the right and centered to the penalty area. There Preslav Yordanov broke away from the defense, but from the point of execution of the penalty he failed to score in the net of Tsarsko Selo.
